Thinking of joining the Birchwood Women’s Team? Want to just try us out before you commit? The Tuesday night women’s ride is open to non-members on the first Tuesday of every month, May through September. You don’t have to be an experienced group rider – just be comfortable on your bike and willing to learn! This is a no-drop ride. However, you should be able to maintain a 15-18 mph pace for two hours and be able to change your own tires. Although not required, non-members are encouraged to RVSP Annie Swanberg at membership@birchwoodbiketeam.com.
Any Tuesday which is not the first of the month is designated for Birchwood Women's Team members only. This ride does not have a no-drop policy. However, no rider who can safely maintain the pace of the group, or who experiences mechanical problems, will be left behind. If the group is large enough it will split into two groups: 'A' pace and 'B' pace. The A group will ride at 18-20 mph avg., with informal sprints and regrouping, while the B group will ride at 15-18 mph avg.
New riders are also encouraged to try our Sunday Coffee Ride, which departs from the Birchwood Cafe every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. This is intended to be a social ride and is an excellent way to "try out the team."
The Women's Team will hold informational and/or practice session clinic on an as-needed basis. Past clinics have included flat fixing, bike maintenance, cornering, and group riding skills.
